  1. I visited Cougar Annie’Garden around 20 years ago after reading the book by Margaret Horsfield I bought in a Salt Spring Island bookstore. We flew over from Tofino in a small airplane. We were ushered around by a young man who worked there.
He told me about the vision for the garden… for it to become a center for ecosystem understanding
Of gardens & bringing in people for that education.
Having worked in an Arboretum in Minnesota for 20 years I was very interested becoming a part of that.
I have not returned to the garden but have touched into this site & re read the book a number of times.I am a published poet & have delivered my poetry walk “compare & Compose” in National Parks where it was participated by non poets who wrote
As we walk trails to learn facts & receive feelings & then sit down to create their personal learnings in a poem or essay of their creation on site. I would so enjoy visiting Annie Cougars garden again & write my poetry on site of this unique place.

    • How interesting, Mary. I’m sure you’d be welcome back to do your poetry in that poetic spot, but you’d have to contact the garden to arrange it. It was a truly magical time for me.
